The results reports will provide one of three possible outcomes for each inherited disease tested - Clear, Carrier or At Risk.
The information provided in the test results will allow you to work with your veterinarian and other specialists to manage and improve the overall health of your cat. The test can also help you highlight potentially serious diseases or conditions that may need special attention.
The test is ideal for breeders who want to make sure their cats are as healthy and as disease-free as possible. In addition, you can select partners for breeding on the basis of their genetic profile.
Sample collection is quick and easy, and does not require a vet. The DNA sample collection kit contains 2 x sterile mouth swabs (both for 1 cat), step-by-step sample collection instructions, registration form & return envelope.
There is no minimum age and nursing kittens can be tested. They should be separated from the mother for about an hour before swabbing their cheeks. This ensures no milk will be in their mouths to possibly contaminate the sample and that we get the kittens DNA instead of the Mums DNA.
Results are issued by email within 4-6 weeks of receipt of samples at the laboratory.
